TL;DR: LintEater®, LintEater® Pro, and SnugDryer® give distributors an easy-to-stock category with repeat purchases built in, and give service accounts, such as chimney sweeps, pest and wildlife technicians, and other handypeople, a quick, high-margin add-on to existing jobs. Clogged dryer vents are a leading, preventable cause of house fires, and SnugDryer solves a separate pain point (tight laundry room installs), rounding out the category with minimal SKU complexity.

For nearly 80 years, HY-C has manufactured trusted home safety and home improvement products in the USA. We currently have three products in our Dryer Venting & Cleaning category: LintEater®, LintEater® Pro, and SnugDryer®, all by our brand Gardus®.

Each product improves safety, efficiency, and convenience in residential laundry rooms, and each one gives your accounts an easy way to add value to a job they’re already doing.

If you’re a distributor, here’s what you need to know about stocking our dryer venting and cleaning products and positioning them with your hearth dealers and service accounts. If you’re a chimney sweep or service tech, here’s why it’s a natural, safety-oriented upsell.

Dryer Vents Need to be Cleaned Often

We recommend inspecting and cleaning dryer vents every six months, although annual cleaning is generally considered the minimum. That said, certain situations or lifestyles call for more frequent cleaning:

  • Pets that shed in the home
  • Multiple loads of laundry done daily
  • Abnormally long vent systems

Most homeowners don’t clean their vents nearly this often, which is exactly why dryer venting and cleaning makes a strong add-on for pros already on-site for another job. A tech doesn’t need to sell a new appointment; they just need to mention it during one they’ve already booked.

But beyond convenience, it’s a genuine safety issue. According to the NFPA, U.S. fire departments respond to thousands of home fires involving clothes dryers every year, and failure to clean the dryer and its vent is consistently cited as a leading cause. Lint is highly flammable, and once it builds up inside the vent it restricts airflow, causes the dryer to overheat, and creates the conditions for a fire.

Proper airflow also helps dryers operate more efficiently, reducing drying times and lowering energy bills. That combination, a real safety risk plus an everyday annoyance, is what makes this an easy service pitch. It’s preventative maintenance that homeowners understand once they’re aware of the risks.

An Easy Upsell for Service Techs

This is the part worth building into how you price or pitch a job: A dryer vent kit turns a five-minute conversation into an extra line item.

Chimney sweeps, HVAC techs, and even gutter cleaners are increasingly offering this as a bolt-on. For example, a gutter cleaning company might offer to clean a customer's dryer vent on the spot for a flat add-on fee while they're already there for the main job. No separate appointment, no extra drive time, just an added charge for a service that takes minutes with the right kit.

That's a low-effort way to increase ticket size on jobs you're already running without adding a separate appointment or truck roll.

LintEater® and LintEater® Pro: DIY Cleaning Kits

Both kits use the same core idea: An auger-style brush head with staggered, self-feeding bristles that attaches to a standard cordless drill and cleans the inside of the vent as it spins.

LintEater includes four 3' nylon rods (12' of reach), a blockage removal tool, a vacuum adapter, a 4" self-feeding auger brush, a lint trap brush, and a dryer adapter. Rods connect via screw-thread.

LintEater Pro includes the same core components, but the rods connect via button-link quick-connects instead of threads, which lets the drill run in reverse without the rods disconnecting inside the vent. This is the main difference between the two lines, and it's a meaningful one:

  • Threaded rods can break apart mid-clean if a drill runs in reverse, leaving a section stuck inside the vent. And if a threaded rod is dropped, the impact can strip or deform the threads, which will keep the rod from screwing into the next one (making it unusable)
  • Pro's button-link rods stay locked together either direction, so there’s no risk of disconnecting mid-job and no thread to damage if a rod is dropped

Both lines also offer Jr. versions (shorter reach, fewer accessories, built for short vent runs) and extension rod kits for unusually long vents.

LintEater®

Together, these four kits cover virtually every common residential dryer vent configuration. In other words, no matter the vent size, a cleaning can likely be done.

This gives a natural good/better shelf story for hearth dealers and service accounts: LintEater for the price-conscious, LintEater Pro for techs who want a more secure, professional-grade connection they can rely on job after job.

SnugDryer®: Solving a Different Problem

SnugDryer isn't a cleaning tool. Instead, it's a connection kit that lets a dryer sit nearly flush against the wall, creating valuable floor space and helping eliminate crushed transition ducts.

It replaces the flex pipe behind the dryer (the most common thing that gets crushed, kinked, and clogged with lint) with a rigid ABS plastic adapter, gasket, and wall plate system.

It’s a separate selling point from "cleaning products" since it solves a different problem: Reclaiming laundry room space and preventing crushed flexible transition duct lint buildup (which causes clogs) in the first place.

It's best suited for new construction or retrofits where the in-wall vent already lines up with the dryer's exhaust port, so it tends to resonate with builders, remodelers, and appliance installers among your accounts.
